PENSIONS COLD CALLING BAN

You may already know that unsolicited calls about your pension are now illegal and companies will be fined up to £500,000 for breaking this rule.

This will help protect you against pensions fraud, which is often instigated through cold calls.

If you receive an unwanted call about your pension, get as much information as you can, without disclosing any of your personal information, and report it to the Information Commissioner’s Office via their website or on 0303 123 1113.

Who can contact you about your pension?

Calls are only legal if the caller is authorised by the FCA, or is the trustee or manager of a pension scheme, AND you must have consented to receive calls from the organisation, or have an existing relationship with the caller.

Remember, if you are considering making a decision about your pension, it would be best to seek independent advice before making such an important financial decision.
